James Kirkland Malone

MALONE, Kirk, (James Kirkland Malone), age 73, passed away on November 16, 2023, at his home in Atlanta, GA. Kirk, the second child of Cecil and Edith Malone, was born and raised in Atlanta. He attended Northside High School before graduating from the University of Georgia, where he was an active member of the Chi Phi Fraternity. After UGA, Kirk began his career as a general contractor with Cecil Malone Company, where he learned the importance of never compromising on quality. His attention to detail and focus on customer service never faltered as he became the President of Malone Construction Company. In addition to building out commercial interiors and luxury residences, Kirk was a chairman and trustee of the Southeastern Carpenters & Millwrights Health Trust.

Outside of work, Kirk was an avid fan of the Bulldawgs and the Braves. While he had stopped playing golf, which he loved for many years, Kirk still enjoyed watching all the major tournaments. He stayed mentally sharp by competing in bridge tournaments and unwound by smoking a cigar (or two) with his many friends. Kirk was a long-time member of Cherokee Town & Country Club, where he served as the club president. His kindness and compassion had no limits, especially for his sons, grandkids, and his caretaker and long-time girlfriend, Kim.

Kirk is survived by his four sons: Sam (Kelly), Jeff, Nick (Hailey), and Alex (Taylor); his brother, Cy Malone (Pam); and two sisters, Edie Twomey (Tim) and Liz Meek (Bo).
