George was born in Columbus, GA on April 4, 1952 to parents George Lucius Colmant, Jr. and Berta Boyce Colmant. He attended Columbus High School, where he played Football and was in the ROTC. Shortly after graduation, George moved to Atlanta, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science from Georgia State University. After college, he lived in Franklin Tennessee briefly before returning to Atlanta, where he lived for over 50 years.
George started his career in industrial lighting design, working for 15 years at Jordan, Jones & Goulding, before broadening his career into banking and sales. His last job was as an Account Executive for Points North Magazine. He volunteered for many years at the Johns Creek and Alpharetta Chambers of Commerce, where he was chosen to be Ambassador, and held a seat on the Board of Directors. George never met a stranger and loved meeting new people. He had a long list of friends – everyone that met George, loved George.
George’s life was full of adventure. He loved anything to do with water. He grew up as a young boy boating and skiing at his grandparents’ lake home on Lake Juniper, near Columbus Georgia. There, George, his brother Mike, and sister Boyce all learned to water ski. George was an excellent slalom skier. He taught his daughter Ashley and son-in-law Jake to ski and spent endless days on the lake fishtailing. He treasured his Malibu Flightcraft Competition ski boat, which he drove for 26 years. George also loved the beach and the ocean and became a certified scuba diver.
One of his lifelong passions was Georgia Tech Yellowjackets football. He first attended games with his Uncle Harry and his grandfather, who had season tickets. George also had season tickets for many years; tailgating and college football ran deep in his veins.
In 2009, George met Donna Revellese through a mutual friend. After 10 months of dating, they were married in March 2010 on the first day of Spring. Spring represented “new life”. George and Donna merged their families and started their new life traveling to places they had never been. Their lifelong dream was to one day live on a lake. Once they saw Lake Keowee, in South Carolina, no other lake compared, and they started their search for a lot. After 5 years, they found the perfect lot and built their dream home; however, George only had 9 short months to enjoy the lake.
George is survived by his wife Donna Colmant, daughter Ashley Jean Lowery (husband Jake), stepson Tony Revellese (wife Graysen), sister Margaret Boyce Colmant (son Wes), brother Michael Andrew Colmant (wife Karla), beautiful grandchildren Lyla, Kate, Chelsea, and Grayton, a niece, nephews, and cousins. He also was Papa George to Donna’s step-grandchildren from her prior marriage, Austin and Madison (parents Danielle and Josh).
