Carlos Romero Sierra Haas, 77, of Roswell, died December 12, 2016. Carlos Haas was born May 21st 1939 in Mexico City, Mexico and was a proud descendant from the Basque region of Spain. At age 5, Carlos immigrated to the United States, and grew up here in Atlanta on Wieuca Road. Carlos attended Marist and St. Leo Preparatory School during his High School years, and later attended Tulane University. Carlos kept close ties with his mother country of Mexico throughout his life maintaining citizenship, residence, and an Art Gallery in Mexico City until 2006. The unique experience of being a Catholic Mexican Immigrant growing up in the South in a Jewish household post WW II gave Carlos a very different perspective on life, and shaped him into the man we loved… Compassionate, elegant, funny, honest, loyal…and hungry! Carlos passionately loved all that life had to offer. His passion for cooking, automobiles, sports, history, art and Jazz was immense, and rivaled only by the love for his family and dear friends. He will be sorely missed by many. He is survived by his wife, Geri Haas; son, Mark Elliot Haas and his wife, Carolina Haas; daughter, Lisa Weir; grandson, Lucas Haas; sister, Tere Haas Arthur and her husband, Steven; and brother, Elliot Haas of Taos, NM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to “Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation, 1577 NE Expressway, Suite Atlanta, GA 30329”. Memorial services will be Monday, December 19, 2016 at 11 o’clock at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
