Memorial Service Saturday, May 23rd, 2015, 10:00 am at the Oak Hills Cemetery Chapel of the Roses in San Jose. A Celebration of Life will be held at Bob and Cathy’s home immediately following the Service.Vernon Brent “Bob” Willoughby passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, in his home in San Jose, California on May 15, 2015. He was 74 years old.Bob was born in American Fork, Utah to William Leroy Willoughby and Evelyn Selman Willoughby.He was raised in Orem and Provo, Utah with his siblings Clive, Gay, Nancy, Lyla, Roger, Alana. And Chalise After High School and some College, Bob joined the Coast Guard and served honerably from 1959 to 1963 working as a Technician maintaining the radar systems at light stations all along the California coast.While visiting the pigeon point lighthouse in Pescadero, he met Cathy Irene Walsh who was working as a nanny/housekeeper for the station’s commander. They went on a date on August 19, 1962 and returned home as Man and Wife. They would have celebrated their 53rd Anniversary this year.Bob had many careers in his lifetime; Business Owner, Mechanic, Technician and Director of Facilities at the time of his retirement. He and Cathy traveled extensively, visiting 74 countries, and making friends on multiple continents. He enjoyed spending time with his family and their many friends.Bob is survived by his wife, Cathy, daughters Gina, Sherri and Pam, son-in-laws Mike and Don, and grandsons Jonathon and Justin.
