On February 3, 2020, Ruth “Cuca” Ramirez Ochoa passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home at the age of 69. She touched many lives with her loving and nurturing spirit and willingness to go out of her way for others.
Ruth was born in San Jose, CA on April 30,1950. She grew up in a large family with 10 siblings and worked alongside them harvesting fruit and working in other areas of agriculture. She attended Lincoln High School in San Jose where soon after she started her own family. She worked various jobs to make ends meet until she suffered a work related injury in 1998. That is when her real love for working with children took off and she opened her own Family Daycare “Los Niños Daycare.” Many families have entered her life and she welcomed them as her very own even well after the children outgrew daycare. She had a special bond with every child that came through her doors and to some she became their godmother. Ruth loved her “babies” and had a hard time letting go of the daycare when she became ill but still endeavored to be a part of their lives even after she closed down in 2019.
Ruth was predeceased by her beloved parents, Paul Ramirez and Guadalupe Blanco, siblings Joaquin Ramirez, Silvena Ramirez, Sandra Ramirez and her daughter Guadalupe Ochoa. Ruth is survived by her devoted husband, Marcelino; loving children Christopher Ochoa, Dulce Valencia, and Victoria Ramirez and grandchildren, Yvette Ochoa, Francine Alvarado, Izais Soroten and Kamila Vera. She is also survived by her siblings Paul Ramirez, Joseph Ramirez, Ramona Mendoza, Jeannie Reynozo, Agnes Briseno, Maryann Martinez, and Sonia Ramirez.
Her generous loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Saturday, February 22, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a Memorial service to begin 12 p.m. at Lima Family Erickson Memorial Chapel, 710 Willow Street, San Jose. We will be gathering for a reception afterwards at Ruth's family home.
