Known by several names, including "Mom," "Sis," and "Aunt Berta,” Roberta Lynn Miller left this life far too early on November 22, 2022 at the age of 62. She is survived by her daughters Danielle and Alaina, her parents Mick and Jackie, her niece Sara, her grand-niece Hailey and grand-nephew Garrett, and her sister-by-choice Jean. She was reunited in Heaven with many friends and family, including her brother Vernon.
Roberta was born Roberta Lynn Anderson on August 17, 1960 in Sacramento, California. She was known as “Robbie” when she was a young girl. She first attended school in the Folsom area before moving to the Bay Area, where she attended schools in Sunnyvale and Santa Clara. In the 6th grade, she met her “sister” Jean and they became forever friends.
She was an adventurous child who loved to pick flowers, keep up with her brother and boy cousins and always got right back up after falling. As a young adult, she enjoyed horseback riding, hunting with her family and cheering on her favorite sports teams. A few years after graduating from Wilcox High School in Santa Clara, she married and raised two beautiful, talented daughters. She was a stay-at-home mom when the girls were in school and was heavily involved in their school activities, including PTA meetings, volunteering in the office and accompanying the girls on school field trips. She made sure that her girls were strong and independent and that they could cheer on the Sharks with the most avid fans. To her girls, she was the world’s greatest Halloween costume maker, joke player, sweets baker, hair braider, peace bringer, and love giver.
Roberta was color incarnate and a truly beautiful soul, inside and out. Every room became brighter when she entered. She was a shining light even in the darkest times. She cared deeply for her family and friends and had a profound love for animals and the beach. Whether you knew her for 5 minutes or 15 years, she was always ready with a hug when someone was hurting or having a bad day.
Roberta will forever be missed by the many people whose lives she’s touched. While we may no longer be able to see her light, we know that she will continue to shine down on us from Heaven.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please consider donating to one of Roberta's favorite charities: the Silicon Valley Humane Society and the SPCA.
