Quoc was born in March of 1948 in Hue, Vietnam to Tung Viet Nguyen and Dinh Minh Cao. During the Vietnam War, he was a pilot and flew the C-119 for the South Vietnam Air Force. During this time, he and his first wife, Lien Phuong Huynh, had 3 children, Uyen, Thai and Vi. As South Vietnam fell in 1975, Quoc helped evacuate friends and family from war torn areas. He, himself, was unable to escape and was imprisoned for the next 6 years. He fled Communist Vietnam and soon after settled in San Jose, California with his second wife Domai Thi Ly. They bore two sons, Andre and Dante. There he worked as an electrical technician.
Although Quoc was quiet and reserved, he was quick-witted and a surprisingly good singer. Using his skills as a former aviator, he enjoyed meticulously planning and mapping any family trip. He cared deeply for his close relatives and friends and spent time reminiscing and keeping sentimental pictures and records of those he loved dearly. Despite his failing health, Quoc devoted the last decade of his life trying to ensure his youngest two sons were well-provided for upon his passing.
Quoc was preceded in death by his wife, Domai, parents Tung and Dinh, his brothers, Hung, Quan, and Thanh. He is survived by his five children, Uyen, Thai, Vi, Andre and Dante, his brothers Chin, and Kien, and 3 grandchildren.
