Maria Escobedo De Acosta passed away peacefully at her home on November 11, 2022, at the age of 76. It was Maria’s wish to be in her home, and she was surrounded by the love of her nine children when she passed away: Elisabeth (Lisa), Carmen, Lourdes “Lulu”, Maria Victoria “Vicki”, Irma, Jaime, Javier, Hector, Eliseo “Jr.”, and three grandchildren: Benjamin, Stephanie, and Alina. Maria is survived by 14 other grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-grandson whom she had yet to meet. We are sure she will send him her blessings and ours from heaven. Maria is predeceased in death by her husband of 58 years, Eliseo S. Acosta, and beloved grandson, Ismael F. Sanchez; We can only imagine their beautiful reunion in heaven.
Maria was born and raised in Monte Escobedo, Zacatecas, and she made San Jose, California, her home with her husband in 1965, where they raised their nine children. Maria was mostly a homemaker, but in the 1980’s she worked at Memory Disk Manufacturing in San Jose. Maria loved to play bingo and dominoes, and loved to tend to her plants. Maria was a wonderful cook, and talented seamstress; she made our clothes when we were growing up, and could make alterations to anything. Maria also enjoyed knitting as she found it relaxing, and often gifted, scarves, hats, and blankets to family, and loved ones, and sweater vests to pets. Maria also donated knit hats to Stanford Children’s Hospital.
Maria was a devout Catholic, and prayed the rosary daily. What Maria enjoyed most was having her home full of her family to enjoy home cooked meals. Maria is missed by many friends, nieces and nephews, and sisters, Marcelina and Josefa, and she is incredibly missed by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Te queremos mucho mucho. Mandanos nuestras bendiciones del cielo. De parte de mi mama, “Que estes bien. Que dios te bendiga.”
