John Melani, aged 97, peacefully passed away in San Jose after residing there for 28 years, having previously lived in San Francisco. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Irene.
John was a cherished father to Michael (Marlene), Ray (preceded in death) (Connie), Ken (Meri), and Lyn (Lou). He was a devoted grandfather to Kristi, Gina, Dana, Will, Kaley, Brian, and Rebecca, and a great grandfather to Tyler, Wyatt, Grant, Ivy, Finley, Nate, Scarlett, Beau, and Graham.
A veteran of the United States Army and an Honorary Lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, John dedicated 40 years of service to Bank of America before retiring on November 21, 1986, holding the position of Assistant Vice President and Manager of the Day & Night Branch in San Francisco.
Throughout his life, John's kindness, patience, and unwavering support touched the hearts of all who knew him. He had an unparalleled passion for gardening, particularly for his orchids, which brought beauty and life to his surroundings.
John was known for his mastery in storytelling, his sense of humor, and his ability to captivate audiences for hours with his stories of fact and fiction.
