Gene Joseph Cassimere III slipped away from us on 7 June, 2021 in his sleep at his home in San Jose, California. Gene was born on 25 July, 1981 to Patricia Watson and Gene J Cassimere, Jr. He grew up in New Orleans and attended Corpus Christi, St Rita, and Fortier schools before moving to Oakland, California where he graduated from Skyline High School.
Gene found his career in sales and marketing, mainly the retail sector of new and used cars. He was well known among Northern California’s Bay Area auto markets.
Gene enjoyed playing video games, fishing, camping, and spending time with his family. He liked to discuss politics and social issues and never backed away from a debate. He had no trouble expressing his opinion but was also open to listen to an opposing point of view.
Preceded in death by grandmothers, Ernestine McCathen, and, Dr. Myrna Cassimere, PhD both of New Orleans.
Survivors include his Fiancé, Ms Valerie Morris of San Jose, Ca, children; Selah, Gene IV, and Jabari. Siblings; Stewart Watson of Dallas, Tx, Elise Theresa, and Andrea Claire of New Orleans, parents; Patricia Watson-Muhammed of Dallas, Tx, Gene and step mother Carrie Cassimere of New Orleans, Uncle Thomas in Dallas along with many more other cousins, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles in California, Texas, and Louisiana.
Gene will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Memorial Park in San Jose, Ca on 1 July, 2021 at a ceremony beginning at 9:00 am.
A memorial service will be held at My Redeemer Missionary Baptist Church, 2829 Washington Ave, in New Orleans for friends and family who may be unable to make the journey to California.
