David (Dave) Patrick Gamba was born to William Gamba Sr and Carol Barrera in Daly City, CA on May 28, 1966. He was the youngest of his two older siblings, Raymond and William. Always energetic, as a young boy Dave already exhibited his necessity to always be occupied, helping his father at their multiple pharmacies whenever he was not at school or studying for an exam he was determined to do well on.
This unceasing energy would continue throughout his life, achieving his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from University of California, Los Angeles, Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from University of California, Berkeley, and his Master of Business Administration from Stanford University. While in school he worked various jobs and was able to purchase a condo in Mountain View where he lived with his roommate Bruno, a friend who would later introduce him to the woman he would spend the rest of his life with.
Dave met Nelinda (Nel) Olaes in 1997 and after 3 years of dating, married on July 15, 2000 in Stanford, CA. After purchasing their home in 2002, the couple settled in San Jose, California with their two dogs, Misty and Patrick. In 2005 they welcomed their first child Aidan and then their second, Sage in 2008.
As he enjoyed the busy life a family of 6 would bring, Dave also thrived in the semiconductor industry, holding various positions including Director of Vertical Marketing & Sales for Aeluros, Director of Vertical Marketing and Partnerships at Xilinx, General Manager of the Consumer, Data Center, Test, Medical and Military Business Unit for Altera, Senior Director of Aerospace and Defense at Xilinx, and most recently, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for SiMa.ai. All the while managing his Fabricare Laundromat which he sold in 2016.
Despite these achievements, Dave was most passionate about spending time with his family and being a present husband and father. He enjoyed playing board and card games with them and the occasional televised basketball or football game together. He coached and reffed for his children’s teams, attended every game he could, and followed through with their bedtime routine even up until his very last night with them.
Dave lived his life as quickly as he departed. After wishing Sage, Aidan, and Nel a good night, in the early morning of December 22, 2022 the non-stop Dave, rested. He was 56 years young.
David Patrick Gamba is survived by his wife, Nelinda, two children Aidan and Sage, canine companions Black Shadow and Mimi, mother Carol, and siblings Raymond and William. He is predeceased by his father William, and canine companions, Patrick and Misty. His family was his center and the light of his life. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
