Charles Michael (Chick) Chavtur passed away peacefully in his home on December 29, 2018. He was born on October 10th 1935 in Johnson City, New York. He was the son of Michael and Anna (Hnat) Chavtur. Chick graduated from Binghamton Central High School class of 1954, where he was a star baseball catcher. After high school, Chick chose to serve his country and enlisted in the US Navy where he served as a 2nd class Damage Controlman. Chick met the love of his life, Joan Egan, and they were married September 1, 1956; a union that lasted 62 years. Moving his family to California, Chick began his career as an Ornamental Iron Worker; working in the profession for 41 years. Chick loved camping, fly-fishing, sports and traveling. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his beloved wife Joan, devoted children Ann Marie Chavtur (Jay Miller), Kathleen (Scott) Black, Charles M. (Tricia) Chavtur II, Christine (Stan) Showers, six grandchildren, his sister Katherine (Vincent) Leogrande, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Monday, January 7th at 1 p.m. at Lima Family Erickson Memorial Chapel in Willow Glen, Ca. Interment will be on Tuesday, January 8th at 12:30 p.m. at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
