Andrea Lisa (Mason) Borges passed away peacefully with her family by her side on October 28, 2023. She is survived by her loving husband Louis Borges, her daughters Jacquie and Charlotte, her parents (Roberta) Bobbie and Don Mason, her Grammie Caroline Escoto and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Andrea was a loving daughter, wife, partner, godmother and friend. She was born on January 3, 1965 at San Jose Hospital. Andrea attended Scared Heart Elementary in Farmington New Mexico. The family moved back to San Jose where she attended Ruskin Elementary school and Sierramont Middle School. After Sierramont, she attended Piedmont Hills High School. Finally, she attended San Jose State University where she studied Communications.
While in High School, Andrea worked at Togo’s Sandwiches and hated smelling like sandwiches. She worked at Millers Outpost where she made many lifelong friends. Finally, she worked Loss Prevention for Emporium Department Stores. Macy’s purchased Emporium in 1995. Andrea continued her career in Loss Prevention at Macy’s for 37 years and retired in April of 2022. Her last title with Macy’s was Regional Asset Protection Training Manager.
Andrea enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved hosting family and friends at our house. She also loved being outdoors. She enjoyed running, hiking, swimming, snow skiing, camping, fishing, backpacking, and barbecuing. For several years she was an Aerobics instructor at 24 hour Nautilus. As a young adult, she embarked on a backpacking trip, where she traveled through several countries in Europe.
I started dating Andrea in 1998. We enjoyed living life to the fullest together. We went on many memorable adventures to Hawaii, Lake Tahoe and Portugal. Andrea was my best friend and partner. We started a family when Jacquie was born on May 25, 2001. We got married at the Turtle Bay Resort in Hawaii in April 4, 2002. She gave birth to our second daughter, Charlotte on April 2, 2003.
We vacationed as a family in Hawaii, Azores Portugal, San Diego, Las Vegas, Arizona (Spring Training) and Disneyland.
Andrea fought a long and difficult battle with cancer three times. She was first diagnosed with Ovarian cancer in 2008. Many years later, it was discovered she had lung cancer in 2022. In August of 2023, she was diagnosed with brain tumors and endured 4 weeks of Radiation treatment. However, nothing was stopping her from going to Disneyland with her daughters and best friends.
Charlotte flew home from Oregon (OSU) to surprise the family on October 28. Andrea passed away surrounded by her daughters and mother. Andrea will be greatly missed by her Husband, Daughters, Parents, Aunts, Uncle, Cousins, Godson, and Friends.
Andrea will be remembered for her big heart and dedication to her family. She could light up a room with her welcoming and warm personality. Andrea’s absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew her. I love you very much. We all love you very much.
