> John Donald Burke, 96, passed away on December 26, 2022. He was a true original and approached life with a devilish sense of humor and on his own terms. John was born on January 26, 1926 and was a very proud 3rd generation San Franciscan. He was a lifelong student, taking classes at the Fromme Institute into his 90’s. He earned his BA at Stanford University and his JD at USF School of Law on The GI Bill after serving as a Naval officer during WWII. He also attended university in Perugia, Italy, when his passion for all things Italian began. He was a private practice attorney in San Francisco for 43 years. He loved the opera, Pink Floyd, a cold gin martini, traveling the world, dancing, The 49ers, fabulous food, a naughty limerick, and dogs. But, his greatest love was his City By The Bay, which is where his heart will remain forever. The family would like to extend special thanks to John’s exceptional caregivers; Annabelle, Marieta and Hydee. John leaves behind his niece and nephew, Jennifer Bauccio and Philip Jelleff, and their families. According to his wishes, there will be no services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
