Barbara is survived by her daughter Nicole C. Mitchell (Michael). Her mother in law Joyce Edwards, three brother in law’s Gregory, Mark and Phillip Edwards (Lynda)and a host of grandchildren Philemon-Shyisha-Izzika- Aminat-Arif-Thoheeb-Elizabeth-Rakee-Ishanique-Crystal-Lola-Maya-Chrystal-Christian-Aaliyah-Bryce and great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Cyrett Edwards III affectionately known as Butch, her two daughters Amanda Asque(Arnold) and Crystal Brown, her mother Susie Cooper, her father Douglas Reese ,her father in law Cyrett Edwards II and her grandmother Edna Mills.
Barbara was born in Chicago on September 30, 1950 to Douglas Reese and Susie Mae Moody. Growing up her nickname was Bobo and Babs. She attended Grant Elementary School and graduated from Chicago Vocational High School(CVS). She worked various jobs like Pacific Bell and home health care until she landed her long standing job as a security guard for 25 years at Securitas. Her favorite location was Yerba Buena Lofts where she started working there in October 2017 until her passing. When she returned home after working she tended to her furry son Paco.The residents there made her feel right at home. On April 06,1968 and September 07,1969 she welcomed two beautiful daughters Amanda L. Brown of Chicago and Crystal M. Brown of Maine. She married her boyfriend Cyrett Edwards and welcomed another beautiful daughter Nicole C. Edwards March 25, 1975 of Chicago. She migrated from Chicago to Arizona to California.
Barbara was an avid reader. She enjoyed listening to her favorite songs like Fame by David Bowie. She also enjoyed artists like Aretha Franklin, Frankie Beverly and Maze, Luther Vandross and Tina Marie. She enjoyed shopping for jewelry and designer hand bags and taking selfies, crime shows and vampire movies. She was a generous and thoughtful person. In her latter days she transitioned to more of a spiritual woman and practiced Gods law and listening to gospel music. She dedicated her life back to Christ as she got older. She learned how to practice forgiveness while keeping her no nonsense stance. She was reunited with her two girls in November 2017 after 21 years. After the reunion, she made it her business to draw closer with practicing her love language with long distance phone calls, text messages, FaceTime, flowers,cards, gifts,visits and prayer. She will be deeply missed by her friends,family and all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held for Barbara back in her hometown Chicago, Illinois.
