Shirley Pearl Fedrick

The woman proud to be called “Mrs. Kenneth Buell Fedrick”, left us for Heaven December 1st, 2019 to be joined with her beloved son Little Kenney. Whatever term you used to get her attention, “Charley Andersons girl”, “Aunt Shirley Pearl”, or “Sister”, she heard you! Anyone reading this, that knew her Knows what I mean, about the East Texas woman that carried the name “Shirley Pearl”. If you crossed paths with her during her 84 years, consider yourself Blessed. You always could walk away from a conversation with her, knowing a little more about Love, Friendship, Hard Work, Loyalty, Responsibly, Dependability, Trustworthiness, and even Patriotism.

At 11:20 am on April 11, 1935 in Maybank, Texas, Charley Anderson’s 12th child Shirley Pearl came into this world held in the loving arms of her mother Ida May Anderson. She was named by the way, after Ida May’s mother Pearl. This newborn was ready to embrace the world, and Kaufman County would never be the same.

She grew up in a time when a good water well and an outhouse were luxuries. The families Barnett, Anderson, Neal, and Cravey (B.A.N.C) all looked after each other. To this date the B.A.N.C’S still hold family reunions where folks travel from miles around to cerebrate. They would always know when Shirley Pearl pulled up in her 1968 “Standard Ready Mix” yellow Ford F-150 “Camper Special” Pickup truck, that her visit would commence.

One evening in Dallas Texas she met her man, a United States Marine, by the name of Kenneth B. Fedrick. That began a Journey that would cover 64 Years of Life. They married on December 18, 1955 and made their homes wherever the Armed Forces of The United States sent them. While living in Beaufort, South Carolina on March 15, 1959 their only child Kenneth Buell Fedrick Jr. was born. Then the Fedrick Family was off to San Diego California to make their home. Little Kenney’s Mommy and Daddy enjoyed every moment in their beloved Son’s life. The Cub Scouts of America played a huge part in this, as mom was the Den Mother and dad was Pack Leader to little Kenney and his friends. Mom and dad joined in all things with their son Kenney with Love, and joy always in their hearts. That precious time ended with Little Kenney’s death on October 15, 1968. Soon after Kenneth was sent to serve in Vietnam for 13 months and while there Shirley Pearl was loved and looked after by Mr. and Mrs. Thompson of San Diego and her Families in Cucamonga California, and Texas.

It was in Yuma, Arizona where they spent the next 49 years and dedicated their time to helping American Veterans at the V.F.W post there. All the while making time for trips to visit Family in Texas and California. She did enjoy the Red Hats and working off and on as a salesclerk.

Shirley pearl is survived by many, but especially her dear loving husband Kenneth B. Fedrick of 64 years. As well as a sister-in-law Mary Jane Anderson of Yucca Valley California, nieces and nephews of the Anderson, Fedrick, Neal, Barnett, Cravey, Payne, Pessa and Hawkins family’s, and Great, as well as Great- Great Nephews and Nieces of the same. Dear friends include Garnet, Phil, Jeff and many others.

Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved son Kenneth Buell Fedrick Jr. her father Charley Anderson, her mother Ida May Anderson, Brothers Walter, James Allen, Charlie Anderson Jr. Eugene Owen, and James Leo. Her Sisters Martha, Alvia Lee, Helen, Marie, Mary Catherine, Dorothy, and Annie. Also, the passing of Brother- in- laws, sister-in- laws, nieces and nephews of said families. And other dear friends she met along the way.

For me to capture the full content of the life of Shirley Pearl Fedrick here would be near impossible. However, the words from King Solomon, the wisest king to live comes close because everything has it’s time. His words written in ECCLESIASTES 3: 1-22 begin to describe the life of Shirley Pearl Fredrick. A void in our lives that will never be filled.
