Ryan James Tegnelia

Ryan James Tegnelia, of Ocean Beach, CA, passed away suddenly on January 19, 2021. Ryan, 40 years old, was born in Alexandria, VA. Our family lived in Springfield, VA; Herndon, VA; and Orlando, FL, before moving to Albuquerque, NM, where Ryan graduated high school.

Ryan received his BA at Arizona State University in 2002 and graduated from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego in 2005. Ryan worked as a Deputy District Attorney in Tulare County, CA, before returning to San Diego to begin his career as a criminal defense attorney. He worked at several San Diego law firms before opening his own firm, RJT Criminal Defense. Ryan was passionate about the law and loved his work and the success he accomplished.

Ryan was a devoted son, brother, nephew and friend. He so loved his family and was truly our center and anchor. Ryan was a devoted and loyal friend to many, and our family sincerely thanks all who have reached out to us with sympathy, support and stories of your friendship and work with Ryan.

Ryan is survived by his parents, Jim and Sandy Tegnelia of Albuquerque; sister, Abby Tegnelia of Saratoga Springs, NY; brother, Steven Tegnelia of Albuquerque; special aunt, Charlotte George of Orlando, FL; and many aunts, uncles and cousins from coast-to-coast.

Later this year, when travel and gatherings are safe, family and friends will schedule a memorial gathering for our beloved Ryan.
