Robert James Merrill

Robert James “Robbie” Merrill, age 71, of Spring Valley, California passed peacefully on January 17, 2021 in the comfort of his own home with the loving care of his wife, Carmelita (Crisolo) Merrill by his side with support from his children Shawn, Victoria, and Kelly to care for him during his final hours. He was born February 14, 1949 in Quincy, Massachusetts to Harold “Harry” and Clara (Marcucci) Merrill. Robbie was a 1967 graduate of Braintree High in Braintree, MA then served 4 years in the United States Coast Guard as a Hospital Corpsman, and served a career as a police officer in law enforcement for over 25 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling, Italian Food, and loved going to the Boston Red Sox games and watching Wheel of Fortune on television. He was an animal lover, a class act, and had a heart of gold.

Robbie is survived by his wife Carmelita (Crisolo) Merrill, his two sisters Lynn Raymond and her husband Reid of Norfolk, VA, Debra M. Martineau and her husband Philip of Beverly, MA, his four children Brian Merrill and his wife Christy of Escondido, CA, Brenda Sanfilippo and her husband Mario of Temecula, CA, Shawn Merrill and his wife Victoria of Aguanga, CA, and Kelly Merrill of Seattle, WA, and his grandchildren Michael Sanfilippo, Donovan Merrill, and Mearle the Great Dane.

Robbie is preceded in death by his parents, Harold J. Merrill Jr. and Clara Margaret (Marcucci) Merrill. A visitation and funeral service will be held at El Camino Memorial located at 5600 Carroll Canyon Road in the Sorrento Valley neighborhood of San Diego on February 3, 2021 from 10am-1pm and the interment will take place down the road following the service at Miramar National Cemetery where Robbie will be laid to rest.
