Ricardo Mendoza Almirol

Ricardo “Rudy” was born in Manila, Philippines on September 20, 1940. He spent his childhood in Bacnotan, La Union, Philippines. In the 1960s, he joined the US Navy which allowed him travel to many countries over his 25 year tenure. After 7 years in the military, he married the love of his life, Erlinda Rivera on May 6, 1967, and was happily married for 57 years. After retiring from the military as a Senior chief petty officer, he continued his work for the government at Public Works as an electrician. He also obtained his Masters Degree and graduated Magna Cum Laude. He enjoyed playing golf, solving cross word puzzles, serving his community, going to casinos and eating buffets but most especially spending time with his children, grandchildren and his great-grandchild.

He is survived by his wife Erlinda, children, Annabelle (Sam), Richie, Richard (Cathy), Annette (Doug) and Jane, his grandchildren Jordan (Bora), Ariana (Justin), Sabrey, Madyson, Drew, Lily, Tatum, Ally and his one and only great-grandchild Taika. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.

A visitation for Ricardo will be held Sunday, October 27, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at El Camino Memorial - Sorrento Valley, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA 92121. A funeral service will occur Monday, October 28, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 8200 Gold Coast Dr, San Diego, CA 92126. A graveside service will occur Monday, October 28, 2024 from 2:15 PM to 2:45 PM at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Dr, San Diego, CA 92122.
