September 21, 2024, in San Diego CA with her loving children by her side. She was born on
November 30, 1933, in Balanga, Bataan, Philippines to Salvador and Dominga Banzon. She
was the seventh of nine children.
She attended Balanga Elementary, Arellano Memorial High School, and continued on to The
Philippine Women’s University in Manila where she graduated with a degree in Education in
1953. She taught 2nd grade until she married her childhood sweetheart, Ricardo Diuco, who
was a sailor in the Navy in 1962. The many duty stations, both abroad and stateside, was a
blessing to the Diuco family because they gained many life-long family friendships while they
raised their own family.
After her husband retired from the Navy, they settled in San Diego in 1977, bought a house
in Mira Mesa and started attending Good Shepherd Parish. Lilia was a devout Catholic and was
at one time a part of a church prayer group, and would lead the family in a yearly St Jude
40-day Devotion.
At home, Lilia loved to cook and tend her garden. She loved to prune her roses in the front
yard, and grew many fruits and vegetables in the back. She cooked dishes for her family in the
true ‘farm to table' spirit, and would often share her harvest with her friends and neighbors.
Lilia worked assembling medical devices at IMED/Alaris/Cardinal for over 25 years,
retiring at 70 years old. She met many of her lifelong friends during her time working, making
the most of every moment.
In the late 90’s into the 2000’s, Lilia spent a lot of her free time traveling the world with her
friends and family. That later gave way to a tour bus that would take her to Las Vegas, and the
local casinos for enjoyment.
Lilia was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Ricardo Diuco and survived by her
children and their spouses Ted (Russel) Diuco of San Diego, June Diuco of San Diego, and
Steve (Lynn) Diuco of Rancho Mission Viejo, CA. Grandchildren: Lauren(27), Trevor(24),
Garrett(20), and Nolan Diuco(13), and Step-grandchildren: Kaye and Karen, Siblings: Adelina
Guevara, Jose Banzon, and Erlinda Banzon.
