Our Dad is a very transparent person. As you all know him, youʼll see when he is happy, sad, disappointed, mad, and SARCASTIC. How he is as JEFF outside, have always been the same person at home. He is very funny and jolly, he laughs at everything even at his own jokes. He also is very generous
and caring. We always remember people visiting him at home asking for medical consultations, whether he is asleep, working, watching his favorite shows, washing the dishes, or even doing other important things, he always makes time to address people in need of his service without asking anything in return. We asked him once, “Daddy, why did you became a doctor when you donʼt earn that much while it takes a lot of your time?”, with a heavy sigh, he responded with, “I did not became a doctor for money, but to help people who are in need”. His words are always full of wisdom even though sometimes he says it in a very sarcastic way.
Daddy is the most intelligent and wise person we have ever met. Every morning, one of us will be asked to get either an encyclopaedia or one of his very thick medical books and hand it over to him while doing his business in his favourite spot in the house, the BATHROOM. Our grandparents told us that he was called the walking dictionary before. Heʼs not only into intellectual books, but also an avid fan of comics.
Our dad is a very humble man. He has a lot of achievements that he really never mentioned or shared with us. Most of the time, weʼll just be informed regarding his accomplishments and we never really celebrated one. Despite all his achievement that we were and are not aware of, we always are very
proud of him.
As a kid, Dad have always been very sweet and sentimental in so many ways. He is rarely home because he always works very far away from us, that is why he makes sure that every moment that he spends time with us is memorable. Before he gets back to work, we always have what he called “Daddy Time”, where he lies down with us and tells us stories, jokes, and tickles us until we peed our pants off. Every moment shared with him is full of laughter and love in the family. He made us experience a lot of things. Once a year, he makes time to travel with us and takes us places weʼve never been. He even let us experience what heʼs doing at work, that is why as a kid, we have always seen him as a hero.
Growing up, he made sure that our values are intact, he does not tolerate bad behaviour and habits. When it comes to our studies he never spoon fed us, instead he always says “read the encyclopedia”, “read books to enhance your vocabulary”, “search the dictionary”, but at the end of the day he would point out that the reason behind all of this is because he will not always be around to tell us what we ought to do. He also doesnʼt tolerate tardiness orabsences in our academics. This is the reason why we all looked up to him. He always says that “Yung pag-aaral lang ninyo ang maipapamana namin
sainyo, walang pwedeng kumuha sainyo niyan” - “Education is the only inheritance that I can offer that no one can ever take away from you”. Being around him always make us feel safe.
Daddy loved this family very much. He never failed to show his love for us in his own way. Every time weʼll have a call, he never fails to end the conversation with “I love you” or “I love you, baby”. It will take us a book or two to describe who Daddy is for us. But one thing is for sure, he is the best dad and weʼre so lucky to have him. We love you Daddy, you taught us well. Donʼt worry about us now, we are what we are now because of you. We know that youʼre always there. You will forever be in our hearts and will never forget all the things you taught us. This is not goodbye.
