UN MESSAGE DE LA FAMILLE
Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Duoc Ngoc Duong, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 6, 2024 in San Diego, CA. He was 88 years old. Born in Nam Dinh, Vietnam, Dad left his family at a young age to pursue his education in Hanoi. He later escaped to Saigon due to the 1954 Geneva Accords that resulted in North and South Vietnam. He lived and worked in a monastery while continuing his studies and later became a teacher of Vietnamese and Chinese literature. As the war intensified, he served as an officer in the South Vietnamese army. It was in Saigon that he met his future wife, Nga Thuy Trinh. They married in 1968 and had four children. Following the fall of Saigon in 1975, Dad and his family immigrated to the United States and settled in Tucson, Arizona. He worked diligently to provide for his family and worked in the produce department at Safeway for many years. Life in the US was very hard. We grew up poor but wanted nothing because of Dad's love and support. Through the years and the ups and downs of life, we matured, got married, and had children. After retiring, Dad and Mom enjoyed traveling, both within the United States and internationally. They cherished spending time with their children and grandchildren. In their later years, they moved to San Diego to be closer to family. They had many years of carefree joy, love, and relaxation with each other. In the last three years of his life, Dad faced health challenges. Mom never left his side and lovingly cared for him as he deteriorated. We were there for his final breath and last goodbye. Dad will be deeply missed by his wife, Nga; his children, Mai, Thuy, Thu and Quang; and his cherished grandchildren, Anh, Thuan, Thien, Linh, Trinh, Vi, Vi-An, Nathan and Owen. Dad will be remembered for his optimism, kindness, love of cooking and eating, radiant smile, and unwavering love for family. To honor our father, we kindly ask that you consider a donation to the Study Encouragement Fund in lieu of flowers. This will help provide educational opportunities for Vietnamese students, a cause that was dear to him Study Encouragement Fund 12188 Hidden Brook Terrace North Potomac, Maryland 20878 Zelle: 2403446393 / [email protected]
