Shay Whitman, of San Diego, died in a motorcycle accident, on June 4th, at the age of 37. Shay is survived by her mother, Melody Owers Muller, of Tampa, Florida, sisters, Halaya LeMaire, of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Shannon Whitman, of Jacksonville, Florida, grandparents, Harold and Sarah Owers, of New Blaine , Arkansas, and Donald Whitman of Lake Arthur, aunts and uncles, Molly Owers Myers, of Houston, Texas, Matthew Owers, of Tampa Florida, Annette Whitman Hires and Donald Whitman Jr., of Jacksonville, Florida.Shay is preceded in death by her brother, Walt LeMaire, grandmothers, Margie Whitman Owers Green, and Ida Whitman, and her uncle, Peter Owers. Shay was born on January 12, 1978 in Jacksonville, Florida, to Melody Owers Whitman, and David Whitman. She graduated from University of California, San Diego, in 2005, with a degree in Urban Planning and Development. She also she studied Yoga in Costa Rica, and India. Shay was kind, beautiful and a bright light in so many people's lives. In her short life, Shay loved so many people and made friends everywhere she went. She was happy, and lived her life to the fullest. Memorials were held in Ocean Beach, California, first a private one for her closest friends and family, and then a public one, in Sunset Cliff National Park, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Shay will be deeply missed, and loved beyond measure.
