Our hearts are heavy as we bid farewell to our beloved Carole Reames Garrett, a remarkable woman who touched the lives of everyone she met. She was born in Tyler, Texas on August 5, 1936, and peacefully passed away in San Diego, California on May 25, 2023, at the age of 86, with her daughters by her side. She embraced the beauty of California, her chosen home, while still carrying a deep love for her Texas roots. Her Texan spirit was infectious, and she infused a little bit of Texas into the lives of those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will forever be etched in our hearts.
Carole led a fulfilling and vibrant life, finding joy in simple pleasures and pursuing her creative passions. She enjoyed cultivating her gardens, whether it was tending to delicate roses or growing fresh fruits and vegetables, her plants were a reflection of her nurturing spirit. She also possessed an artistic soul and embraced various creative outlets throughout her life. In her younger years, she actively engaged in photography, capturing moments frozen in time. She also had a knack for sewing, drawing, and painting. A true advocate for the environment, Carole found joy in repurposing items and transforming them into beautiful creations. With her eye for design, she turned discarded materials into unique pieces of art, reminding us all of the beauty that can be found in the unexpected.
Among her cherished social pastimes were attending Victorian tea parties, participating in the San Diego Doll Club, and playing in regular card nights with her dear friends. The laughter and shared camaraderie created precious memories that she held dear.
Above all, Carole exemplified the true essence of motherhood, extending her unconditional love to her two adopted daughters, Danielle and D’Anne, and stepson Rick, creating an unbreakable bond that made them feel like they truly belonged to her. She was most proud of her grandchildren, Scott, Megan, Aidan Brigid, and Addison, and her great-grandchildren, Garrett, John, Olivia, and Elle.
As we gather to remember and celebrate the life of Carole Garrett, let us be inspired by her kindness, her passion for life, and her ability to make a stranger feel like family. She leaves behind a beautiful tapestry of memories, woven with love and laughter. Though our hearts ache with the loss of such an extraordinary woman, we find solace in knowing that her spirit will live on in our hearts and in the lives of those she touched.
