Brad was born in Hollywood, CA, August 10, 1954 to Kenneth and LaRae Catcott. He was raised to adulthood in China Lake, CA, and graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Business/Accounting. He worked in a variety of positions running and tuning financial systems software for banks, savings and loan companies, and the government. At the time of his death, he had been employed by San Diego Unified School District for 23+ years.
Brad was a loving brother and uncle. He is survived by his two brothers, Greg Catcott (Lou Woodburycatcott) and Bret Catcott (Keri Catcott), by his nephews, Khyber and Brad, his nieces, Tara, Sierra, Kalli, Jessi, and Loralee, and by 13 great nieces and nephews.
Brad had many varied interests throughout his life, both intellectually and athletically. He taught himself magic, to play the guitar and flute, and was an accomplished pool player. He was an avid do-it-yourself kind of guy, with an extraordinary selection of tools, capable of remodeling his house, building furniture or roofing our families A-frame cabin. He was an expert cook, a skill developed during stints with several restaurants in his twenties, that made him a focal point at family and work gatherings. He was known to prepare food for 20-30 co-worker at the so called “meat fests”.
Athletically Brad was extraordinary by any measure. At different points in his life, he was an expert motocross racer, a surfer, a ski racer (nearly went pro), a marathoner (completed 30+), and finally, a remarkable and passionate bicyclist, where he would frequently ride 300+ miles per week.
He was a spiritual man, dedicated to the church and Jesus Christ. He will be missed by his family and all who knew him, but we will celebrate that he is at peace with his creator.
A celebration of life will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Delmar, CA.
