Bing Wing Poon

Bing was born in Hong Kong right after World War II. He was the youngest of six children, born to Poon Kwai Hoi and Yau Yin Hing. Despite losing his father at the age of 11, his childhood was full of joy and a bit of mischief. He and his brother Ping used to throw firecrackers at the bus stop near his home. Still, he managed to study enough to find his way to Taiwan for university.

In Taiwan, he met the love of his life, Viota. They would build a fulfilling life together in Michigan. Bing and Viota married while he was at Michigan State University, studying nuclear physics. As he was completing his PhD, their first child Adora was born. Realizing that research and academic teaching were not his calling, Bing went on to get a Masters in mechanical engineering before beginning his career in the auto industry.

Bing then went to work at Chrysler for thirty-one years until his retirement. It was early in his career that Bonita was born. Bing had a long and successful career where he rose to the level of director at Chrysler, but still found time to reach a single digit golf handicap. In fact, Bing made many lifelong friends both from work and outside work through golf.

In spite of his impressive accomplishments, Bing was a truly humble man. He cared about his family, friends, and even people he met for the first time. Bing would greet people with a warm smile and was quick to put people at ease. He often did this with his disarming humor. He was down-to-earth and related well with everyone who crossed his path.

He was generous with his love and possessions. With all his successes, he did not view wealth as a goal. He supported family and friends and donated to charities throughout his life.

Bing was a big-hearted intellectual. Everyone that knew Bing will remember his warm, easy-going, and jolly demeanor, along with his quick-witted and playful sense of humor. He was always gracious and selfless in his love of others.

Bing never cowered when he faced new challenges. He left his home at the age of 18 to attend university in Taiwan where he hardly understood the dialect. He started over again when he immigrated to the United States to study for his PHD in a foreign country. After building a community of family and friends in Michigan for over 50 years, the loss of his wife along with his stubbornly untreatable brain tumor forced him to start over again in the last year of his life in California. He displayed a courageous willingness to uproot himself three times during his life. He was a brave man.

Bing passed away on October 15, 2022 at the age of 76, surrounded by family. Bing was preceded in death by his beloved wife Viota Poon. He was also preceded in death by his aforementioned parents and his older sisters, Shuet Yuk and Jeng Yuk. Doting father of Adora Poon and Bonita Tao (Ben). Joyful grandfather of Ephraim and Phineas. Beloved brother to Kit Yuk, Keng Por and Ping Sham.

二戰後，Bing (炳荣) 出生在香港。 他是潘貴愷和游燕卿所生的六個孩子中最小的一個。儘管在 11 歲時失去了父親，但他的童年充滿了歡樂，也有幾分惡作劇，舉例是他和他的兄長農曆新年時往往在他家附近的公交車站扔鞭炮。 儘管如此，他還是設法學習到足以去台灣上大學的路。

Bing 在面對新挑戰時從不畏縮。18歲離家到台灣上大學，他母語是廣東話，當時他幾乎聽不懂國語。 當他移民美國到國外攻讀博士學位時，他又重新開始適應。 在密歇根州建立了一個由家人和朋友組成的團隊之 50 多年後，失去妻子以及頑固地無法治癒的腦瘤迫使他搬到加州又重新開始生命的最後一年。他一生中三次表現出勇於承受極端痛楚打擊的意志。他是一個勇敢的人。

Bing 於 2022 年 10 月 15 日在家人的陪伴下去世，享年 76 歲。Bing 心愛的妻子 Viota 不久前已去世。他的上述父母和他的大姐雪玉和三姐贊玉也先於他去世。遺下他所心愛的女兒 Adora Poon 和 Bonita Tao (丈夫 Ben) 。 快樂祖父的孫 Ephraim 和 Phineas 。 摯愛的二姐潔玉和兄長鏡波，炳森。

家人希望每個人在他的記憶中傳播愛心善舉。
