Albert was born on November 10th, 1942, in Brookline, MA, to the late Joseph and Lillian (Tobias) Harmon. He faithfully served our country in the U.S. Army in military intelligence in Stuttgart, Germany, and was a proud member of the New York Stock Exchange. He retired to San Diego, CA, 15 years ago, with his wife Carol.
Al, as he was called by those who knew him, brought a strong passion to every facet of his life—whether rooting for the Red Sox, flying Cessna airplanes, or studying acting under Stella Adler. He was especially happy on the golf course. He started playing competitive golf as a teenager and went on to earn his PGA card. Al was forever sharing his love of the game with aspiring golfers, including his many students at National City Golf Course and especially his own children and grandchildren.
Al adored his family most of all. He remembered every birthday and never missed an opportunity to cheer on a sports activity during visits back to the New York area. With his warmth and easy sense of humor, Al had a gift for making so many others feel like family. It was impossible for him to walk through India Street in San Diego’s Little Italy without someone popping out of a restaurant to say hello. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by his brother Steven and his daughter Lisa. He is survived by his wife Carol; his children, Samantha, Jacob (Cara), Gillian; and grandchildren, Anthony, Lokae, Melanie, Jackson, June, and Lyle.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 3rd, 2020 at El Camino Memorial Park in San Diego, CA, at 11:00 AM.
