Sylvia was a devout Catholic and member of the Guadalupanas. She enjoyed watching cooking contests and Project Runway. In her younger years, she was an avid athlete in bowling, cycling, volleyball and baseball.
Sylvia is survived by her children Christina Ortiz, Ronnie Ortiz (Sarah Ann), and Cilvia Alanna Ortiz; and her siblings Rodrigo Mancilla, Carmen Dominguez (Daniel) and Irma Cortez.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband Alfredo Alfonso Ortiz; her father Candelario Mancilla and her mother Francisca Serna; her sister Angelita M. Martinez; her brothers Rolando Mancilla and Rodolfo Mancilla.
A visitation for Sylvia will be held Monday, August 15, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Mont Meta, 26170 State Highway 345, San Benito, Texas 78586. A funeral mass will occur Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 1015 E Van Buren Avenue, Harlingen, Texas 78550 followed by a burial will at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
