Raul R. Zuniga Jr.

Raul was born in 1958 in Harlingen, Texas to Raul & Olivia (Lugo) Zuniga.

Raul graduated from Rio Hondo High School in 1977, and after years of working with his father, he joined the San Benito Fire Department in 1983. He served the department for 37 years working hard to reach his final position as the Fire Chief for the last 6 years. He showed immense dedication and pride in working for the City of San Benito.

Raul married Gloria (Adame) Zuniga in 1988 and celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary this year.

Raul loved to give back to his community through various fundraisers and events. He loved fishing, hunting, barbecuing, and spoiling his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Raul & Olivia Zuniga; his older sister, Rachel Flores; and his nephew Andrew Zuniga.

He is survived by his wife Gloria Zuniga; daughter Emily(Saul); son Jonathan(Jessica); brothers Rick(Rachel), and Rudy(Elvira); sister Rosie(Albert); grandchildren Briella, Olivia, Jaiden, & Jared; and many other nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

A Memorial Service for Raul will be held Friday, November 8, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Mont Meta, 26170 State Highway 345, San Benito, TX 78586. A Prayer Service will take place at 12:00 PM followed with by a graveside service at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
