Bill proudly served in the US Army for 20 years, living in many places around the world. After retiring from the military and relocating to San Antonio, with 4 kids and a grandbaby, he went to work for the Dept. of Veteran Affairs at Audie Murphy. He retired from the Dept. of Veteran Affairs with 15 years. Since he felt that wasn’t enough, he went on to work and retire from USAA. He finally decided to actually RETIRE!! While stationed in Germany, he was ordained as a Deacon at Calvary Baptist Church in Augsburg. He is currently a member of Crossroads Baptist Church and in the Aquila & Priscilla Class. He was active in many of the activities at the church and was currently serving on the finance committee. He truly loved his church family and serving his Lord and Savior.
While living in Bandera County (for over 20 years), he was active in many activities, including sports and band programs (supporting his kids and grandkids); taking photos for the local newspapers during sporting events. He was also a committee member for Relay for Life and a volunteer with the Pipe Creek Volunteer Fire Dept. and EMS for Bandera County.
Bill was always keeping us laughing and on our toes, and he never met a stranger. Some of the crazy things he did with his kids, grandkids, son-in-laws, brothers, cousins … the stories were always full of fun, laughter, and maybe a fire or two!! He married the girl of a house he was “TPing” – yes, he was rolling a house in toilet paper!! And they were married for over 54 years!!! He loved to do many things – hunting, fishing, photography, and traveling, but his family, his church family, and his Lord and Savior were the things that he loved the most.
