Mr. Dyer was my sixth grade teacher and one of my favorites.  He was firm, but also compassionate, and able to reach out to students like me who were shy and a bit under-confident.  I remember I was terrified when I found out he would be my teacher because he always looked so stern, and he ended up being one of my favorites. I talk about him to this day with much affection and admiration.

I worked for Rand Dyer for many years, he was a wonderful boss, very fair, supportive and fun.  The kids all loved him, as his staff did. RIP Rand. You will be missed.

Mr. Dyer was so great at Harmony Hills, I wish he was my teacher but I received some great advice as a child and won't ever forget his teachings in life ! Thank you sir for your service and your work !


Being a part of that 5th grade class Mr. Dyer taught at Harmony Hills Elementary was magical.  After all these years I immediately smile when I think of him and that class.  He taught us so much more than academics.  I will always be thankful for the lifelong friendships formed in that class.  Those friendships are a testament to Mr. Dyer.

Mr. Dyer was the best to work for.  He was easy going, fair and with you 100%.  I worked for him at Thousand Oaks Elementary and truly enjoyed my days there.  May you rest in peace Mr. Dyer.  Prayers for you and your family.

Such a nice man. Was school nurse when Mr. Dyer was principal at Thousand Oaks Elementary in the late 1980s. May he RIP.

I had the pleasure of being in Mr. Dyer's 5th grade class at Harmony Hills.  Mr. Dyer was one of the most memorable and influential teachers I have had.  He encouraged us to be more than we were and to be our best.  I was a shy kid who always waited to the very last to volunteer to get up to present my paper to the class.  Once, after one of those times that I had sheepishly waited to the end to present, he asked me to stay after class.  He told me that when he was scared to do something, he usually just volunteered to do it first...you get it over with and don't get so nervous.  The next time we had to present something, I think he nearly fell out of his chair when I raised my hand to present to the class first.  You know what...it is easier to go first! I still use that advice today.   This is just one example of how Mr. Dyer cared for each kid that he taught.   We were all better because of him.

I worked for Mr. Dyer at Thousand Oaks in the 1980's. He was such an awesome administrator who cared deeply for his students and his staff. Many happy memories for me. He will be missed. 
My deepest sympathy for the family at his passing. My thoughts and my prayers for friends and family during the difficult days ahead.

I am so very sorry to learn of Mr. Dyer's passing. He was an important part of my son's early education. Parents of all his students owe a great deal to his dedication to the finest ideals for young people. I'm one of them. Rest in Peace, Mr. Dyer. As they say in Texas: "Ya done good!"

Our sincere condolences to Randy and the family.  Rand was a dear friend.  He was my principal at West Avenue, at Coker and Thousand Oaks Elementary.  We had many happy years and made many everlasting memories.  My husband, John was a fellow principal and also remembers the many lives Rand touched in his career.  Now he is with his loving wife, Bobby.  They made a great couple.  God's Blessings to you Rand and Bobby.  You'll live in our hearts forever. What an extraordinarily kind and gracious man.  Mr. Dyer was a resonating influence in my life as well.  Harmony Hills holds a special place in my heart, and Mr. Dyer had a lot to do with that.  My heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.

Mr. Dyer taught at Harmony Hills Elementary.  He was a great presence there!  Even if you didn't have him, you knew who he was and wished you did!  I was new to San Antonio my fifth grade year and having a positive male influence in my life was very important.  Thank you!!!  RIP, Mr. Dyer!  You lived a life full of changing young peoples' lives for the better.

His classroom was one of the most influential in my education. His influence is carried by hundreds of us. may his memory always be for a blessing.
