Mrs. Violet "Vi" Fowler Biancardi of Windcrest, Texas passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 15, 2024. The youngest of three siblings, she was born on May 18, 1923 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Vi spent her childhood years in Corbin, Kentucky and in Cincinnati where she attended high school and the University of Cincinnati. As a young adult, Vi worked as a Civil Service Secretary for the military in Germany and the United States.
Vi met her lifelong sweetheart Colonel Andrew "Andy" Biancardi in Sacramento, California and they were married on October 15, 1955 at Mather Air Force Base. They celebrated 69 years of marriage this past October.
As a military wife and mother, Vi ensured their children Lynn, Steve and Andy adjusted well to multiple moves across the country, establishing homes in California, Kansas, Ohio, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia and Texas. Her other travels included a memorable trip to the islands of Hawaii to meet Andy while on R&R from his tour of duty in Vietnam. Additionally, she and Andy cruised the Caribbean islands and enjoyed trips to their children’s homes in Dallas, Houston and Philadelphia.
Vi actively participated in programs to support military families and was a member of the Military Civilian Club in San Antonio for over 20 years. While living in Dallas, she was a member of the Richardson Symphony League that supported the growth of the Richardson Symphony Orchestra. In Windcrest, Vi was an active member of the Windcrest Women’s Club having held various offices, including Historian, and was very active in the Arts & Crafts group. Vi was known for sharing her large snowman collection for the yearly Christmas celebration. Vi enjoyed crafting, sewing, ceramics, painting and entertaining her friends, particularly hosting a yearly Super Bowl Party. She also square danced with The Village Squares in Windcrest for many years.
Vi was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved animals, including her cats Oliver and Princie plus the many pets of her children and grandchildren, especially Gracie. She will always be remembered for her smile, quick wit, fun nature, confidence and strength.
Vi is preceded in death by her mother Elsie Karr Fowler, father Lewis and brothers Kyle and Earl. Vi leaves behind her beloved husband Colonel Andrew Biancardi, USAF, Ret., daughter Lynn, sons Steven (Valery) and Andrew (Merilee) and six grandchildren, Andrew (Erica), Katherine (Colin), Michelle (Edgar), Paul, Andrew III and Leah.
Funeral services will be on December 2, 2024 at 11:00 am at Windcrest United Methodist Church, preceded by visitation from 10:30-11:00 am. A reception at the church will immediately follow the service. Burial will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 2:15pm. Arrangements are by Sunset Funeral Home.
