Susan attended Providence High School graduating in 1966. She attended Our Lady of the Lake and St. Mary’s University graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology in 1970. She then became a case worker for the Tuberculosis Control Board in San Antonio until her marriage in 1972 to James who was in the Navy at the time. Susan then followed James to Albuquerque, New Mexico where Keith was born, then Vallejo, California; Idaho Falls, Idaho; Newport, Rhode Island where Ann was born; then Hampton, Virginia where Sandra was born; then Bay City, Texas and back to San Antonio in 1989. While James was in the Navy Susan endured long periods of separation in which she managed all of the family responsibilities. After the Navy Susan volunteered as a substitute teacher, then librarian at St. Lukes Catholic School, Incarnate Word University and Holy Spirit Catholic school. Her main hobby was caring for her children and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Susan is survived by her husband, James Nesrsta, Jr.; son, Keith J. Nesrsta (Angie); daughters, Ann Marie Curtis and Sandra Clark; grandchildren, Samantha, Lilly, Brooke, Averie, Elise, Gus, Bruenn, Winslet and Knoll; siblings, Jeanette Belter (John), Charles Tarrillion, Jr. (Kathy), Patty Pish (Robert), Tim Tarrillion (Melody), Diane Wyrick (Stephen), Julie Schad (Don), and Donald Tarrillion (Susan); and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00 PM on Sunday, May 11, 2025, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 North Loop 1604 East.
Funeral Mass will take place at 11:30 AM on Monday, May 12, 2025, at St Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1602 Thousand Oaks Drive. Interment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
