Sister Margarita Vargas, MCDP, born in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico on September 29, 1921, entered eternal rest on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the age of ninety-three. She is preceded in death by parents Jesus Vargas and Maria Rojas, four brothers, one sister and leaves behind numerous nephews and nieces. Teresa, better known as Sister Margarita, entered the convent on September 11, 1951 and professed her vows on August 15, 1956. Throughout a forty-eight year span as a dedicated Catechist, she served in twenty-one parishes throughout Texas, two in New Mexico. Although retired in 1997, she dedicated herself to crocheting hundreds of beautiful items for St. Andrew’s Convent Craft Fair. Sister Margarita will be greatly missed by the Vargas and Rojas families and the Missionary Catechists of Divine Providence. Visitation: Sunday, November 2nd at 6:00 pm, Rosary at 7:00 pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Convent Chapel, 2318 Castroville Road. - Mass of the Resurrection on Monday, November 3rd at 10:00 a.m., same location. Pall Bearers: Robert Montemayor, George Gomez, Steven Cherry, Rick, Arturo and Luis Fernandez. Interment to follow in San Fernando Cemetery No. 2 on Castroville Road. May she rest in peace.
