Sidney R. Ogden

Sid was born on July 3, 1928 in Pearland, Texas. His father, Walter George Ogden, was 37 and his mother, Abigail (Abbie) Byler Ogden, was 27.

He married Barbara Ann Durham and they had two children, Lisa Ann Ogden Neal and Lori Gail Ogden Fleming.

Later he married Carole Joyce Hunnicutt on February 7, 1977 in Guadalupe, Texas. Tim Gressler became a part of our family.

He had 3 brothers and 5 sisters. All of the siblings have passed away except Mabel Helton.

He leaves behind Tim Gressler and his wife, Barbara of New Braunfels, TX, Lisa Neal and husband, Don of Midland, TX, Lori Fleming and husband, Ron of Wennell, North Carolina, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

Sid was an intelligent, patient, and kind man. He enjoyed spending time with his family, laughing and playing jokes, bowling, riding his motorcycle, racing cars, and watching car races on television. One of the favorite desserts was ice cream. When asked what was his favorite flavor, his response was “all of them.” He loved his family and his dogs. He served in the Navy (in the Sea Bee Unit) and the Naval Reserves. And he served in the Civil Air Force at Kelly Air Force Base. Through his service in the military he was able to travel to many other countries. He really enjoyed traveling in Germany. He also was active with the Masons and Shriners. He was a proud member of both.

A Visitation for Sidney will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 from 5-8 pm at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel; 1701 Austin Hwy; San Antonio, TX 78218. A Funeral Service occur on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 11:30 am at Sunset Funeral Home. Following there will be a Committal Service on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 12:30 pm at Sunset Memorial Park.
