Sharon was born the same week the Disney film Bambi premiered, and like Bambi himself, she lived her life with a love of flowers, a romantic nature, and no small amount of mischief. As a young girl in Flora, Sharon was very busy with extracurricular school activities including Latin club, choir, and the school paper. She helped out at her parents’ general store and Uncle’s pharmacy in Mascoutah, where she would meet and fall in love with soda jerk/dime-store cowboy, Ron. They married on September 27, 1961 and Ronald Chase was born in 1962 with Mary Quinn following in 1965. The Air Force kept the Rardin Family on the move, often with their travel trailer, the air-conditioned Rardin Tepee, in tow.
Sharon enjoyed singing Andy Williams, watching the sunsets over Newcome Drive with a Diet Coke in hand, dressing up and going out, and chatting with family and friends. She passed on her sense of creativity through knitting and cooking, especially her famous chicken and noodles. She was a great story-teller and always had an anecdote to share and a hug to give.
Sharon was a loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and mum who will be dearly missed. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 8, 2023 from 6-8 PM at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 12 PM at the funeral home and the committal service will be held at 1:45 PM at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of sending flowers, please make a donation to San Antonio's Meals on Wheels or food bank in Sharon’s memory.
