Sean Aubrey Govan departed this life unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 27, 2012. However, before he made this earthly transition after only 43 years, he touched the lives of many with his smile, generosity and trademark sense of humor…all the way to the end.
Sean was born on Saturday, July 27, 1968 to parents, Carl O. Govan, Sr. and Helen Arch Govan. They instilled in him a love for family which he fondly demonstrated…all the way to the end.
His teachings continued after he was baptized at Palestine Baptist Church, (Rev. L. A. Crenshaw)and later christened at St. Dominic’s Catholic Chucrch (Father Paul). He graduated from Oliver Wendell Holmes High School Class of 1986 and continued his education at San Antonio College and Angelo State University with a concentration in Computer Science. Sean also proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy, but could not complete his tour due to an asthmatic condition.
Sean’s many experienced molded him into a respectful, productive and compassionate man of character, integrity and therefore his greatest love was sharing these traits with his family and friends. Sean was also a valued asset to his employment team at Caremark Pharmaceuticals. In yet another arena, he enjoyed the opportunity to share his wisdom and skills as part-time bartender. He found additional joy in traveling throughout the country, NASCAR sports events, and being a serious and long-time fan of the San Antonio Spurs.
Those left to treasure his many wonderful memories are his beloved and devoted mother, Helen Arch-Govan; sisters, Cher Govan Postell (Darryl), Carla Mitchell, Sharon Govan-Smith (John); and brother, Carl Govan, Jr; aunts, Cecilia Gibson, Carolyn Felton, Vivian Watson, Susie Govan; uncle, Clyde Govan…along with special cousins and countless relatives, friends, and co-workers who were all blessed to have known him.
Those having preceded him and waiting to welcome him are his father, Carl O. Govan; maternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Sherman L. Arch, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Milton B. Govan; aunts, Dorothy Swain and Mildred West; uncles, Sherman Arch, Jr., Arthelious Govan, and Virgil Govan.
Sean’s life will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation one hour prior to the service. To leave condolences for the family, go to www.sunsetfuneralhomesa.com.
