Ready or not, someday it will all come to and end. There will be no more sunrises, no minutes, no hours, no days. All the things you collected, whether treasured or forgotten, will pass to someone else.

Your wealth, fame and temporal power will shrivel to irrelevance. It will not matter what you owed, or what you were owed. Your grudges, resentments, frustrations, and jealousies will finally disappear. 

So too your hopes, ambitions, plans, and to-do lists will all expire. The wins and losses that once seemed so important will fade away. In the end, it won't matter where you came from, or on what side of the tracks you lived. It won't matter whether you were beautiful or brilliant. Even your gender and skin color will be irrelevant. 

So what will matter? How will the value of your days be measured?

What will matter is not what you bought, but what you built; not what you got, but what you gave. What will matter is not your success, but your significance. What will matter is not what you learned, but what you taught. What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage or sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate your example. 

What will matter is not your competence, but your character. What will matter is not how many people you knew, but the memories that live in those who loved you. 

What will matter is how long you will be remembered, by whom and for what. Living a life that matters doesn't happen by accident. It's not a matter of circumstance. It's a matter of choice. My father chose to live "A Life that Matters."

You will truly be missed from the Alvarez Family and I know we won't forget you. I didn't even see my own grandparents as much as I did you so I can personally say you are my grandpa and I will miss you. Thank you for all the memories with my kiddos!!!!'

As the days slowly comes to an end, I can't thing of much to say. But I feel the pain and happiness and legacy you leave behind. I never had the chance to share all the memories that everyone had with you. But I can say that the memories you left with everyone of your kids and grandchildren shows the man you were and how great of a man you were. You were always around and loved being around with the family it it showed a lot. You raised a great family.  I wish I had more to say , but the last thing I can say is thank you. Thank you for accepting us into your wonderful family. Thank you for raising your kids the way you did. Thank you for Sam. Because of you , you gave me a father that as taught me a lot in my life. Pushed and still pushes me to be a man and he doesn't judge me or my faults. So going back thinking of all the stories I can say now that I know the man you were. Thank you. May your spirit rest in peace.

We lost my mom's dad, my grandpa. We will miss you dearly. You lived a good life and went to the heavens peacefully. As much as we tried to prepare ourselves for this day, its a heartbreak that will leave a mark. We love you to the day we were born to beyond the heavens you look down upon us. We shall see you later in life, protect us all with your loving heart grandpa. #neverforget

I just want to thank you all for your support for the past week. We had our final last goodbyes to a son, a husband, our father, a tio, a cousin, a grandpa, a big grandpa, a friend but we gained an ANGEL. WE ALL LOVE YOU and MISS YOU!  Thank you for being a big part of our lives and will continue to see us grow.

Grandpa I am going to miss you so unbelievably much. I'm going to miss your smile and your laugh. I'll always remember the stories you shared with me over the summer when I would pick you up for our Friday breakfast. I'll remember you by your beautiful blue eyes no one else can see but me. I love you with all my heart and I know you'll always be with me

Dear Grandpa, you lived a wonderful long life. You and I have many memories, strong long lasting memories. You being around showed what we have to look forward too. Even though your disappearance will be taken by a heavy heart, you are surrounding us all with your love, laughter, compassion and your beautiful heart. Your significance will be proudly known. You are know in a place in the heavens where you can do all with God's will. You shall not feel no pain, the struggle to walk, the worries of your loved ones. You can even visit "Georgie's" all you want and enjoy your usual breakfast. Grandpa, you made a huge impact on every soul you came upon, whether it was going to go eat, to the store, or in your neighborhood. I will miss seeing you at church at the 8:30am mass at st. Bonaventure hearing me sing and listening to the word of God. I shall sing even louder and stronger just so you can still hear me from up above. I love you and miss you. Sweet dreams, we will see each other again.

Words are never enough at a time like this, but know that my thoughts are with you all at this most difficult time. May Tio rest in peace.

Grandpa, I am still at a loss for words as to why you couldn't be here with us. As I've told many, I thought you would be here forever. It was just one of those things I never thought about; a life without you in it. I have so many fond memories growing up with you. I remember watching Garfield the cat every morning mom dropped me off with you and grandma, then as the day went on playing in the yard while you did your gardening. Yelling for you to "watch me grandpa watch me" as I did another cartwheel or flip. I remember waiting for the money monster to throw down some nickels and dimes while I anxiously held my hands open under the tree house. The best part of the day was being attacked by the CLAW! No matter how many times I asked for the tickling claw you never failed to surprise me and make me laugh harder than the time before. As I got older I, like many of my cousins, took you on your famous morning routines. First to Georgias for breakfast, then the bank, the dollar store, and the corner store. We would talk about life as a kid, your days in the army and stories about mom and all my tios and tias and all the funny things they did to stir up trouble as kids. I'll never forget the life lessons you taught me. You were truly an amazing grandfather that I can't imagine this life without. Fortunately for me though, I have you as an angel to watch over my family and I as we go through these passing days. Thank you for everything you've done for me. I love you so much and will always miss you.

My letter to you Grandpa, 
I have so many great memories Grandpa, being the second grandchild and your first daughters first born I was privileged to share many things with you. I truly miss you so much. I love you Grandpa. You have done so much for us in your own special way. Here is my story.
 I think most of us remember the giant from the pecan tree in the back yard. I would try to see if you were throwing the money but you were quick so I knew that money was coming from the giant in that tree. When Daniel and I were there in the summers you would brining us pineapple soda, banana Laffy Taffy, and of course also get us out of time out because you know us we were always in trouble with grandma...hehehe. I spent many summer's picking the peaches off the trees, planting gardens, building a tree house, eating figs and running around in yard. Till this day I get bags of figs from you because you remember me eating them under the tree when I was a kid. As time went by we got older and started doing big kid things. Driving! Oh man... you  would just look out the window and not say a word. Most of the time he was in back seat smiling while my mom conducted the lesson. I would ask him how I did; you just laughed and said good. Once I had my license you needed all kinds of things. These were the adventures of the day...Bank, breakfast, Dollar Store, Corner store. It was the same every time. More time went on and we would just sit outside talking about anything and everything. The stories you would tell me about working the fields how you operated a machine 10 times your size at the age of 8, I would be in amazement of the things you did. My fondest memory walking up to the house and seeing you reading the newspaper, you educated yourself by reading and also watching movies especially those cowboy ones and black and white movies. I liked the black and white movies, till this day when I'm in bed sick I like to watch old movies. By this time most of us are grown and are having kids of our own. You continued to go on camping trips and the fishing trips with us. You would teach the great-grandchildren how it's done throw hard so you can catch a big fish, I know when you told me that I would catch a big one very time.  So many laughs we had and so many Oh yea! were said.  I love you and miss you. You will never be forgotten and the traditions will stay alive.

When we lose a loved one here on earth, we gain an angel in heaven that watches over us. May you take comfort in knowing that you have an angel to watch over you now. Our most sincere condolences to the entire Sanchez family on the loss of your Father.  You are in our thoughts and prayers.
