Samuel Vasquez, Sr.

Samuel Vasquez, Sr., born November 20, 1929, was called home by the Lord on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at the age of 82. Samuel was born in McAllen, TX to Presentacion and Esther Vasquez. He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corp and worked for many years as a sales manager in the automotive industry. He was a man of deep faith who served as a deacon and choir director at his church. Samuel was preceded in death by his son, David Vasquez and his brother, Caleb Vasquez. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Nettie Ortiz Vasquez; sons, Sam Vasquez, Jr. and wife Stefanie and Dennis Vasquez and wife Mandy; daughter, Debbie Garza and husband Jim; grandchildren, Samuel Sergio Vasquez, Christian Vasquez and wife Nicki, Mike Vasquez, Jennifer Vasquez, Samantha Vasquez and Aria Vasquez. Also left to cherish his memory are his great granddaughter, Alexis Vasquez, 9 brothers and sisters and numerous other relatives. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 11:30am at First Mexican Baptist Church, 201 Meredith Drive, San Antonio, TX 78228. Inurnment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N.
