Rose Marie Ramirez

Rose Marie Vargas Ramirez, a 6th generation San Antonio, Texas native was born to Jacovita Herrera and Lorenzo Vargas in December 1932. She was ninth of thirteen children. While in middle school Rose Marie met her lifelong sweetheart Gabriel Ramirez Jr. They were married in 1951 and began their life together. They were blessed with Gabriel in 1951, Carolyn in 1953 and Roland in 1957. Together the family traveled the United States while Gabriel served the US Navy finally returning to Texas in 1971. Rose started her career after Gabe’s retirement at DataPoint. The couple played cards with the same group of friends for over 30 years. She had a fondness for any and all card games and especially loved playing Bingo. She also had a green thumb and enjoyed tending to her garden and loved to sing with Mariachi at any and all functions. She was an adventurer and loved exploring the World. Gabriel and Rose were blessed with 38 years of marriage. He passed in 1989 leaving Rose's heart broken. She is survived by her three children; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Susie V. Flores and Josie V. Botello; youngest brother David Vargas; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Rose lived a full rich life and will be missed by all. The family will receive friends at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. A funeral procession will depart the home at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 11, 2013 to celebrate a 10:00 a.m. Mass at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
