Roland Gilbert O’Con, 88, of Kerrville, Texas went to be with the Lord on January 15, 2021. Born September 23, 1932 to Jesse O. O’Con and Rachel Marietti in San Antonio, Texas. He was proceeded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters.
Roland attended St. Michaels Academy, Central Catholic High School and Brackenridge High School where he played football. He was a graduate of Trinity University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. In high school he was a member of the Marine Corp Reserve and immediately after graduation was called to active duty where he served in the Korean War. He was a recipient of two Purple Heart’s during the Chosin Few Conflict. Roland met the love of his life, his “Precious”, Iva Mae Stiewig, in 1952 and they were married on December 18, 1954. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Iva Mae, his brother-in-law, Jeff Stiewig and wife, Denise, numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly, extended family members and friends. Anyone who knew Roland appreciated the fact that he enjoyed life to its fullest which included his loved for God and Country, traveling, dancing, singing, entertaining and cooking. When he entered the room he truly became the center of attention. But first and foremost he was a man after God’s own heart and shared the love of Jesus with everyone he came in contact with.
