Dr. Richard Dale Schwab

Dick died November 17, 2024, at age 93. He was a 1st generation American, son of John and Anna Marie Schwab who were Volga Lutheran Germans who emigrated from Alt Denof, Russia in 1913. Eight siblings predeceased his death.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sallyann, of 68 years of marriage; children Viveca Seymour (David) and John Schwab (Kathy); grandchildren Tess (Stephen Poulos), Abigail ( Scott Savage ), Jennifer Heine (Dalton); and, great grandchildren Addison Grace, McKenna Faith and Presleigh June Heine and numerous nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces.

Dick, Professor Emeritus at Capital University, taught accounting and business law for 35 years. He was the recipient of various awards at Capital including the Praestantia Award, the University’s highest award for outstanding and distinguished teaching. Also he was the first living person to be inducted into the Capital University Hall of Honor.

Upon his retirement Sally and he enjoyed traveling and participating in civic endeavors. He served very actively as director of his Home Owners Association for eight years. He was successful in having a neighborhood park developed and served as project director. He was pleased that the park was named Schwab Park.

In lieu of flowers it is requested that a contribution be made to the Schwab Endowed Scholarship Fund at Capital University, Advanced Services, One College and Main, Columbus, OH 43209.

Funeral rites and internment will be at Zion Lutheran Church, 9944 Leslie Road, San Antonio, Texas 78254, Chapel #1 on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 11:00 o’clock. Viewing will be at 10:00 with services to follow at 11:00. Reception to be held at the Family home after services.
