Reynaldo Martinez (Pop to his family) was a loving husband, father, grandfather and proud Marine. Sonny had a strong love for his family, country and his beloved Corps. After joining the U.S. Marines at the age of 17, Sonny fought during World War II in the Pacific Island campaigns of Guam and Iwo Jima. At the outbreak of the Korean War, Sonny once again volunteered to serve and was involved in actions in the Chosin Reservoir. Sonny’s love of country was surpassed only by his devotion for his wife and his family. He was fiercely proud of his children and grandchildren. He had boundless energy when it came to doting and entertaining his grandchildren who considered him an accomplished athlete, artist and checkers player. He was deeply loved and will be missed more than words can express. We will always love you Pop.
