Rene L. Uribe

Rene L. Uribe, was called to be with the Lord on February 14, 2017 in San Antonio, TX. He was a man of integrity, someone who was disciplined and methodical in everything that he did. He devoted his life to his family and country. Rene always strived to do the right thing and approached life in a systematic way. These qualities served him well in the United States Navy, where he served on the USS Forrestal during the Vietnam War. After he completed his Naval commitment honorably and valiantly, he continued to serve his country by joining the ranks of Civil Service as a National Security Agency (NSA) asset with the Combined Intelligence Publishing Service (CIPS), Lackland AFB TX. During this time, he was instrumental in the evolution of the United States Air Force Security Service (USAF Intelligence) to the Air Intelligence Command, then to the Air Intelligence Agency. He held various prominent roles during his service, most notably as a Statistician/Manager for the CIPS Reprographics Print Plant. His long and distinguished career spanned over 30 years.

Rene was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. He married Olgamaria G. Uribe, on September 7, 1974 and remained a loving and committed husband to her until her passing, Dec 11, 2013. He was a great father who always gave valuable and practical advice to his son and to anyone who sought it. Family and friends always enjoyed his company as his kind-hearted nature always made people around him smile and laugh.

Rene is survived by his only son, Carlos B. Uribe; sister, Alma Uribe Perez, brothers Luis Angel (Carmen H.) Uribe, Jorge (Irma) Uribe, and Omar (Maria Luisa) Uribe. He is preceded in death by his father, Derly C. Uribe and mother, Laurentina Martinez de Uribe, his brother Joel (Dene Lulu) Uribe, and his beloved wife, Olgamaria G. Uribe

Funeral Arrangements are as follows:

Wednesday March 1, 2017 – Viewing and Rosary from 6:00 – 8:00 PM with Rosary starting at 7:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home located at 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78218.

Thursday March 2, 2017 – Mass will take place at 9:45 AM – 10:45 AM at St. Pius X Catholic Church located at 3907 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, TX 78209 followed by a short drive to Fort Sam Houston where Rene will be laid to rest next to his wife, Olgamaria G. Uribe. Afterward, we will drive back to St. Pius X Catholic Church at 12:00 PM for a Celebration of Life Reception.
