Rebecca O. Garcia, 76, of Laredo, Texas, and long time resident of San Antonio, Texas, passed away September 26, 2014. Rebecca was born in Aguilares, Texas on July 2, 1938, and was active until the last days of her life. She was a kindergarten teacher at Harlandale Independent School District in San Antonio, and also at Laredo Independent School District.
She enjoyed visits and outings with friends and relatives. She especially enjoyed the company of dogs and children. She called her dog "Jazzy" her "constant companion." She especially enjoyed visits by her dog, "Mr. Lucky Dog Garrison," whom her family would sneak in to visit her. Her favorite travel memory was to the rocky coast of Maine, where waves crash against the rocky shores. She also enjoyed cool rainy days. She moved back to San Antonio to be closer to her children.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents Pedro and Aurora Garcia, her sister Alicia Trevino and her brother Felix Garcia.
Rebecca is survived by Laura Garrison, and Dale of Floresville, Texas; her son, Edward Garrison, and Cris of San Antonio, Texas; and her oldest brother, Ignacio "Chito" and Minerva Garcia. Rebecca is also survived by her grandchildren, Curtis and Sarah Olenick; a great grandchild, Eryk Berger; numerous cousins; and many nephews and nieces. Rebecca will be remembered fondly and lovingly by all.
Memorial services will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Bandera Road on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 11:00 A.M.
