Ray Nell Owens

She was born in Montgomery, Alabama on July 26,1942. A licensed cosmetologist, she enjoyed a career as a hair stylist for many friends and family. Her passion for arts and crafts led her to establishing a ceramics business, which she operated for many years. She was an active member of Crestview Baptist Church, where she taught GA’s and Acteens.

She is survived by her son, John Owens, daughter Elizabeth Owens, granddaughter Kinley Owens, sister Kay Knott and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George Knott, Bena Taylor, brother James Knott, half-brother Timothy Connally, husband Hugh Owens, Jr. and an infant daughter.

A visitation and memorial service will take place at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home at 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. 210-828-2811. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. The memorial service will take place on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at 1:00 PM, immediately followed by a burial service at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
