Thank you for saving the poem I wrote to you in 1971 when I was 12 years old! I will miss you dearly and I will love you always, thank you for being my mother.  💕

Part 2- I am a fiery woman like her. Full of life and a lot of attitude. She never stopped loving me. She told me I was intelligent, full of energy, and that I would grow up to be someone special.
 
What she never knew is she had taught me how to survive in this world as a woman; she taught me how to be strong and feminine. My grandma didn't have the easiest upbringing but always overcame adversity and was the true definition of a survivor. She made the best of the hand that she was dealt.
 
I am forever grateful for the lessons she taught me over the years, the confidence she instilled in me, the love she gave, and the memories we made together. It will never be the same on this earth without you, grandma.
 
I'll miss bringing you fried catfish for lunch. I'll miss seeing your face light up when I walk through the door. I'll miss hugging you and sitting next to you on the couch with you petting Champ on your lap. Sophia and Lily will miss your hugs, laugh, easter egg hunts, and Sunday morning breakfasts with you and grandpa. They will forever call you Grandma Marshmallow because you supplied them with an endless amount of marshmallows at your house.
 
I promise to be as strong as possible now that you are gone and still put on my lipstick when I leave the house, even while tears fall from my eyes and never look like a hot mess.
 
My mom and I promise to bring catfish and chicken dumplings to grandpa and keep him company while you are waiting for him in heaven. He loved you beyond words and cherished the ground you walked on for over half a century. I know he will miss dancing with you, laughing with you, being your provider and protector, and spending time you.
 
We will love you forever, Grandma Rachel.

Part 1- With great sadness, I say goodbye to my beautiful grandma, Rachel Irene Seaton.
 
My grandmother was someone I admired and aimed to be like from when I was a little girl. She was fiery and loving and commanded the attention of a room.
 
She taught me how to be a lady and told me that no matter how I felt, I always needed to put my lipstick on and dress up when I stepped out of the house. One thing my Aunt Mary's fondest memories of is that she had many matching shoes and handbags. She was a gorgeous woman, and everyone knew it.  She never missed out on the opportunity to dress up.
 
As a child, I spent many weekends with her and my grandpa. She taught me how to paint my nails, do my hair, apply makeup, and always told me I was beautiful.
 
She taught me how to drive a car (with two feet). Unfortunately, this method made it very hard to pass a driving test later. Until this day, I still drive a car with two feet, one over the gas and one over the brake.
 
During these times, Grandpa would drive me to the store and buy us too much candy, so my grandma and I could spend hours watching crime shows such as Unsolved Mysteries and endless Lifetime movies.
 
She let me stay up as long as I wanted and always left a spot in her bed because she knew I was scared of the dark and would frantically run down the hall to her bed at night after watching the scariest movies.
 
Anyone who knew me knew I was a VERY challenging child. I was outspoken, heard what I wanted to hear, and loved to argue until I was right (or until they were tired of listening).
 

Gary, so sorry to hear of Rachel’s passing. Don Gerth called and told me. May God bless you and your family at this time.

Rachel was well loved by her family and her dedicated husband Gary. Her children and grandchildren  mourn her loss and are sad she will no longer be in their lives. They are sustained by the many memories that they shared  with her. Rachel’s life was filled with many twists and turns . She faced them on her own  terms . She will be sadly missed by all.”

          Sarah and I wish to convey our deepest condolences to you and the family on Rachel’s passing.  She was a very sweet lady who always had a warm smile and a kind word for all. Rachel is in God’s loving hands and is enjoying eternal life. Eternal Rest grant unto her soul O Lord and may perpetual life shine upon her!

Rachel, I have known you for 52 years. You were such a support when Brandy was little. You and I had a lot of fun when we worked at the Century Building. You could lift anyones spirit with your laugh. You were such a beauty  on the inside and out.  I know that your spirit will live on in that huge family of yours. I love you Rachel and may you rest in the arms of our Lord.
