Philip Richard Elliott, born February 10, 1961 in Dayton, Ohio to Richard Pancoast and Jo Rita Elliott passed away on January 16, 2019. Youngest of 3 siblings. Survived by brother, Mike and wife Connie Elliott; sister, Mary and husband Tom Hawkins; ex-wife of 35 years Julie Elliott and son, Aaron Elliott.
Philip learned piano at an early age and developed a passion for hot rods/muscle cars in his teenage years. He had a few jobs before graduation and during the summertime he was a lifeguard for the local city pool. He graduated from Troy High School, class of 1979 and attended Edison State and Wright State Universities for computer sciences.
Philip began his career with the USAF at Wright Patterson AFB and later transferred to Brooks AFB in San Antonio in 1993. He was a Civilian for the USAF for close to 30 years as a Senior Information Technology Specialist within the Air Force Medical Support Agency. Assisted with enhancing biomedical healthcare/research and secure communication for the military’s health system which proven successes have since been utilized in other business processes including public health.
In July 1996, he published and co-authored “Telemedicine Using the Internet” in the American Journal of Emergency Medicine. He received multiple awards and recognition, including the Exemplary Civilian Service with Decoration in June 2008 by the Surgeon General’s office for his work with identifying pandemic viruses and bio-molecular weapons.
He loved vacationing throughout the Caribbean seas on cruise ships. He travelled to Hawaii with family, New Mexico road trip with his son, and explored many other parts of the U.S.
Philip enjoyed woodworking in his barn. Fascinated by new technology and gadgets, built homemade computer systems, and enjoyed collecting CB radio equipment. Already a piano player, his favorite musician Elton John, he was also learning banjo, and forever had a great affinity for his many dogs over the years.
