He was born on October 13, 1937 in San Antonio, Texas to the late Edward I. Campa and Mary Louise Cloetta Campa. He grew up in San Antonio and learned Spanish playing with childhood friends. His first job was working at the neighborhood grocery at age eleven. At 17 he joined the Navy and served four years aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Lexington (CVA-16). Returning to San Antonio he worked for Ferguson Map, Guarantee Plumbing and B.B. Saxon and then CPS Energy for twenty-six years, retiring in 1996. On May 29, 1969 he married Betty Moses. They were married forty-five years and raised three daughters. In 1984 he built his dream home in Helotes, Texas and later added a cottage on the property for his mother-in-law. His hobbies included hunting in Colorado and South Texas, playing softball, woodworking, welding, and spoiling grandchildren. Pat was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Suzanne Campa; brother-in-law, Charles D. (Chuck) Moses; and daughter, Theresa Eller. He is survived by his beloved wife, Betty; daughters, Laura Lee, Carol Marquart and Deanna Slifkoff; son’s in-law, Duane Eller and James Delgado; grandchildren, Jason Lee, Jaclyn Charles Aguilar, Blake Eller and Victoria Eller; great-grandchildren, Larissa and Jayden Lee; his sister, Kaye Campa Moses and brother, Michael Campa; and nieces and nephews. Join the celebration of Pat’s life on Thursday, June 11 at 10:30 a.m. at Fort Sam National Cemetery with a reception following at the Campa home.
