Patricia Ann Parks passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at the age of 71 years in San Antonio, TX. Patricia was born in June 1947 in Casper, Wyoming to William J. (Poppa K) and Cordell Kestler. She is survived by her ever-loving sons Phillip Ross Monte (Yolie) and William Joseph Monte: Grandchildren: Alexander, Alyssa, Garrett, Megan and siblings of two brothers William J. Kestler (Uncle Bill) and Charles Phillip Kestler (Uncle Phil) as well as other loving family members and friends. Patricia grew up in a rough and tumble town known for cattle ranchers, cotton crops and a majestic outdoor life. She was a graduate of Marion High School, class of 1966 and was born in the most extraordinary time in this country being alive to witness amazing feats like; the Woodstock era, the recognition of women's rights and the nations Bicentennial. She got to experience the first man on the moon, the assassination of a US President and many technological advancements to include color television and the direct push dial telephone advanced from the rotatory style.
Patricia loved life and always seemed to surround herself with 2 men during her life. Initially her 2 brothers Bill and Phil Kestler and further carried the names of the three men she loved most over her life. Her Father William Kestler who raised and cared for her throughout her childhood. Then her adolescent love and first husband; Louis Monte, who graced her with her 2 son's Phillip and William Monte that seemed to fill the void when she was grown missing her brothers. And finally in 1977 she met the man of her dreams Donald Parks they married in 1978 completing our small family. This love granted many treats and adventures for the whole family to include moving from Houston to San Antonio where mom joined the M.E. Allison Company, who she worked with and enjoyed for over 30 years, and was like her second family.
Patricia’s LIKES were: Cooking, Water activities, Camping, Gardening, Dancing, Stained glass work, and enjoying the company of the many dogs she had over the years.
Cooking: She was masterful in the kitchen and if you ever had a home cooked meal with her, you are probably still holding a few extra pounds from enjoying the fine cuisine. She wouldn't cook from a box and would only bless you a few times a year with her home made noodles in preparation of her Italian Lasagna.
Water Sports: Definitely a water baby and enjoyed being at the beach or the lake. When the weather was bad she enjoyed her enclosed gazebo hot tub where she could regulate the temperature to her liking.
Camping: Having grown up in the outdoors Patricia loved to be outside enjoying all water activities, such as floating the river or content just floating a tube on Canyon lake. She loved camping out and spending quality time with friends and family.
Gardening: Patricia had a green thumb that Monsanto Corp would be jealous of regularly growing tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, melons and her favorite baby corn that she would jar and pickle, so good.
Dancing: She loved to dance whether county, pop, or formal. If there was music and a dance floor you could bet she would make her way to it. Growing up her family all enjoyed playing instruments and having makeshift sing alongs.
Traveling: She loved to go on cruises and was able to see most of Mexico, Mayan Pyramids, Bahamas, Virgin Islands and Hawaii. She and her boys saw a lot of this great nation. She would always come home excited to tell us funny stories and tales of the new friends they made in all the new places that visited.
Loving Family: Mom was blessed with 4 wonderful grand children; Alexander, Alyssa, Garrett and Megan. All four grand kids enjoyed spending time with Grammie knowing she would always have a big hug and continue the game filling them with sweets. At Christmas Grammie would shower the grand-kids with their wish lists along with a feast of giant prime-rib roast (500 lbs., slight exaggeration) and all the trimmings, she prepared with great skill. Then there were always plenty of desserts after the fabulous meals.
So mom in our departing words we lay you to rest next to Don. We wish you peace in Heaven as you sash-ea towards St. Peter; peacefully minding Heaven‘ s Gate, we would expect nothing less than to hear your battle cry at the top of your lungs, “BONSAI!!!” At the same time tackling him to announce your arrival into a blissful eternal life rejoicing with lost loved ones.
We will all miss you and always love you, fare winds and peace be with you.
